CBRE launch free initiative to encourage more active and healthier workplaces
CBRE has launched a new wellbeing initiative, available free to employees working for companies based in selected CBRE managed buildings in Liverpool, to encourage healthier and more physically active workplaces whilst also raising vital funds to support Action for Children.
CBRE, the leading full-service real estate services and investment organisation in the world, have partnered with Virtuathon, the company behind the initiative, to deliver the CBRE Workplace Virtuathon to participating employees between the 4th June and 29th July.
The CBRE Workplace Virtuathon is an eight-week, employee wellbeing programme delivered via a mobile app with daily guidance, education and motivation that culminates in a 'virtual' 5K or 10K physical activity challenge with an achievement medal as a reward.
This innovative approach means that any employee can participate anywhere which has the added benefit of bringing the workforce closer together and better engaged.
The eight-week physical activity and wellbeing education programme begins on Monday 4th June and is delivered daily via the Get Event Fit app to guide, educate and motivate employees daily throughout their programme.
Participating employees receive easy-to-follow exercise workouts with videos, physical activity education, recovery advice, yoga, nutrition education, healthy eating recipes, positive mindset advice, meditation, employee wellbeing education and much more to inspire them throughout their eight-week journey.
The programme is aligned with standards set by the Workplace Wellbeing Charter and the suggested Five Ways to Mental Wellbeing set out in the Government's Foresight report by the New Economics Foundation; Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. This will help employees understand the impact of diet, stress, mindset and physical activity on their health and to encourage positive lifestyle choices, both in and out of the workplace
Participating employees complete their CBRE Workplace Virtuathon over the weekend of 28-29th July with a ‘virtual’ 5K or 10K walk, jog or run at any location – in the local park or on a treadmill – individually or with colleagues and at their own pace, so it’s ideal for beginners and the less active who perhaps lack confidence in their own physical ability.
Employees are then rewarded with a Virtuathon medal for their achievement.
Andrew Willoughby, Asset Services Director at CBRE, commented, “At CBRE, we are committed to providing a work environment that attracts, develops and retains the best people and celebrates the professional success of every individual. The CBRE Workplace Virtuathon is a fantastic initiative to help businesses in our buildings inspire their employees to become more physically active and live healthier lifestyles, both in and out of the workplace.”
Chris Mitchell, Managing Director of Virtuathon, commented, "I am very excited by our collaboration with CBRE. We are passionate about encouraging health in the workplace as it is so closely linked to employees’ physical and mental wellbeing, performance and motivation. Workplace Virtuathon makes it very easy for employees, irrespective of their location, to get active and healthier with the full support of an eight-week wellbeing programme delivered daily via their mobile app.”
