Employee wellbeing initiative achieves CPD accreditation
Workplace Virtuathon has been awarded with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation by the CPD Standards Office for their eight-week employee wellbeing programme.
Workplace Virtuathon is a CPD accredited eight-week, employee wellbeing education programme delivered via a mobile app with daily guidance, inspiration and motivation that culminates in a physical activity challenge with an achievement medal and CPD points as a reward.
Globally recognised CPD points
Participating employees who successfully complete their eight-week programme will be awarded with 20 globally recognised CPD points from the CPD Standards Office.
In the simplest terms, CPD is any activity that refreshes or develops an employee's skills and knowledge.
CPD is the intentional maintenance and development of the knowledge and skills needed to perform in a professional context. CPD obligations are present in most professions. Most companies and organisations now prioritise them because they ensure a constantly developing workforce.
This means there are millions of professionals across the UK who are required to undertake CPD training every year.
Inspire healthier, happier and more motivated employees
Evidence shows that being physically active is one of the most effective ways to improve mental wellbeing and, by aligning Workplace Virtuathon to the standards set by the Workplace Wellbeing Charter and the suggested Five Ways to Mental Wellbeing, employees learn the impact of diet, stress, mindset and physical activity has on their health.
Additionally, workplace physical activity programmes that foster a happier, healthier and more motivated team, have a positive impact on productivity, increase work attendance, reduce job stress and pave the way for greater employee retention and engagement.
Healthier and more active workplaces have been proven to be happier and more productive workforces. Research suggests that exercise can reduce absenteeism by 23.5% and staff turnover can be reduced by 16%.
Physical activity challenge
Participating employees complete their Workplace Virtuathon with a 5K or 10K challenge as a walk, jog or run, but there's no actual event to organise so it can be completed at any location; in the local park or on a treadmill, individually or with colleagues and at their own pace – so it’s ideal for beginners and the less active who perhaps lack confidence in their own physical ability.
Employees are then rewarded with a Virtuathon medal for their achievement.
This innovative approach means that any employee can participate anywhere which has the added benefit of bringing the workforce closer together and better engaged.
Chris Mitchell, Managing Director of Virtuathon, commented, "I am very proud of the recent accreditation by the CPD Standards Office of our eight-week employee wellbeing programme which is designed to educate and encourage healthier lifestyles, both in and out of the workplace.
We are passionate about developing employee skills and knowledge to encourage healthier workplaces as it is so closely linked to employees’ physical and mental wellbeing, performance and motivation.
Workplace Virtuathon makes it very easy for employees, irrespective of their location, to get active, healthier and learn new skills with the full support of a CPD accredited eight-week wellbeing education programme delivered daily via their mobile app.”
